Tuning in to Your Internal GPS

The decisions I make may not look "rational". This is because I listen for the still small voice within me for guidance, and that means my path may have twists and turns that do not align with convention. I have been testing this way of moving in the world for a while, now, and I have to admit that it has taken courage to say "yes" to my intuition when it leads me in directions that take me away from what I think is right for me. But I have discovered that every time I trust this still small voice, it leads me toward more joy, peace and fulfillment in my life.

It appears as though the divine has a Cosmic GPS system--Being can see the whole picture, the whole map of my life, whereas I can only see a few steps in front of me. I enter the "address" for my next destination, and my body and soul, through my intuition, respond with a set of step-by-step directions for me to follow. My intuition speaks to me in various ways. Recently, I was reading a great book called Dare to Wear Your Soul on the Outside by Gloria Burgess, asking the big questions about my career path. I had just decided to discontinue the masters program I was attending to become a licensed psychotherapist. I was at the gym on the elliptical trainer, reading Gloria's book. I put the book down to do some yoga at the gym, and I immediately heard the phrase, "healing trauma one body at a time". I was shocked! I don't usually receive guidance at the local YMCA! But the conditions were just right--I was sitting in the questions, I was in an altered endorphin-induced state, and my mind was quiet.

That night, I had a premonitory dream. I saw myself at a training to help people recover from trauma. This was such a clear set of instructions that I could not ignore it. I had been wondering "What is next?" and one of the options I was considering was a training to become a practitioner of a body-based healing modality called Somatic Transformation. When I awakened from this dream, I was given a larger portion of the "follow me" map for my internal GPS system!

Your intuition will communicate in various ways. It is important to watch, listen and look for the ways your intuition speaks to you. Learning the language of your intuition can enable you to fine-tune your internal GPS. You may receive guidance through your dreams. You may hear words or see images. You may receive directions through the body. I love helping people learn how to decode the language of their intuition.

I encourage you to pay close attention to the subtle cues your intuition is giving you today. Look for hunches, write down your dreams, notice how your body responds to outer stimulus. Notice what you feel motivated to do, what brings you joy. Reflect upon the decisions that have felt "right" and try to remember how you knew. Make a note of the ways your intuition has guided you in the past, and make it a point to track the language of your intuition. The still small voice gets easier to hear when you know how it speaks to you!

It takes such courage to slow down enough to hear that small quiet voice, thanks for speaking up for that internal guideline in this wonderful thoughtful piece about how it has worked for you.

I think working with trauma is a spiritual path and I welcome you on the journey.

I like your new blog! Blessings on sharing what is Life-Giving!

Thank you for sharing your life's journey in such a spiritual way.

I love the Cosmic GPS system..the internal system of "how to find my way"...and learning how to work it.

Much love,

Very beautiful. I got a hit when I read the part where your intuition pointed to your role in healing trauma, and taking precedence over becoming a psychotherapist.

Love,
Tom
